Description: Lucion Marine were tasked by Columbia Ship Management Ltd to investigate the presence of asbestos containing materials on board one the company’s numerous cruise Liners under their professional management. The work was urgent and Lucion were given only a few days to collate a team of experts and fly them from the UK to Palma to join the vessel on her Mediterranean cruise. Being a cruise ship, its like working on a number of places at once. It incorporates retail, commercial, office, marine, industrial and entertainment venue all rolled into one floating location. Working discreetly around holiday makers and the clock was essential for the work, as were adhering to strict deadlines to ensure compliance with the local authorities regulatory obligations. On arrival in Rome, our team flew home to compile the reports back in the laboratory.
Due to the success of this first project with CSM, Lucion will be returning to Marmaris in Turkey later this month to complete similar works on board another cruise liner.
